Architectural Historian (Cultural Resources Specialist 2)
Required Qualifications
- Successful candidates must meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualification Standards for Architectural History
- Master's Degree in History, Architectural History, Historic Preservation, or closely related field
- At least 5 years of experience conducting Section 106 consultation, including defining and justifying the Area of Potential Effects, Identification of Historic Properties, Assessment of Effects, and Resolution of Adverse Effects
- Successful candidates should be very familiar with the regulatory framework surrounding cultural resource management (i.e., Section 106, Section 4[f], and NEPA)
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Self-motivated, with excellent writing and communication skills
- Willingness to work under varied weather conditions, remotely, and within natural environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous work experience in cultural resource projects in Oregon, Washington, and/or California
- Familiarity with using GIS software
- Experience working on Environmental Assessments and/or Environmental Impact Statements under the National Environmental Policy Act.
In addition, we request the submission of a brief writing sample (3-20 pages), chosen at the discretion of the applicant. Examples include a determination of eligibility, NRHP or HABS/HAER/HALS documentation; historic context development; or other document showing an understanding of the field of history and excellent writing skills.
