Required Qualifications

  • Successful candidates must meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualification Standards for Architectural History
  • Master's Degree in History, Architectural History, Historic Preservation, or closely related field
  • At least 5 years of experience conducting Section 106 consultation, including defining and justifying the Area of Potential Effects, Identification of Historic Properties, Assessment of Effects, and Resolution of Adverse Effects
  • Successful candidates should be very familiar with the regulatory framework surrounding cultural resource management (i.e., Section 106, Section 4[f], and NEPA)
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
  •  Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  •  Self-motivated, with excellent writing and communication skills
  • Willingness to work under varied weather conditions, remotely, and within natural environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous work experience in cultural resource projects in Oregon, Washington, and/or California
  •  Familiarity with using GIS software
  • Experience working on Environmental Assessments and/or Environmental Impact Statements under the National Environmental Policy Act.

In addition, we request the submission of a brief writing sample (3-20 pages), chosen at the discretion of the applicant. Examples include a determination of eligibility, NRHP or HABS/HAER/HALS documentation; historic context development; or other document showing an understanding of the field of history and excellent writing skills.
