The Nebraska / Iowa Area Quality Manager is responsible for leading and training staff on HDR’s Quality Management System (QMS) and establishing and executing strategy and tactics to strengthen area implementation of quality processes and support advancing the quality culture within the area.

Reporting to the Nebraska / Iowa Area Manager or Professional Services Manager, and working in cooperation with local business group project leadership and the Regional Quality Director, this position will be responsible to:

  • Provide guidance and support to Project Managers regarding development of essential project planning materials (e.g., Project Management Plans, Risk Management Plans, Quality Management Plans)
  • Identify and implement best practices for the area to continue to advance HDR’s strong reputation of the quality of our deliverables and services
  • Act as an advocate for Quality to the Area.  Drive continuous improvement by regularly monitoring and updating leadership on QMS implementation and provide input and feedback to project delivery teams
  • Assist in audit activities and utilize root cause analysis to determine the best path for improving any corrective actions identified
  • Identify quality-related needs of Project Managers and Project Delivery Teams and communicate suggested improvements to the Quality Office
  • Serve as a corporate Quality Office champion in the Nebraska Iowa Area by driving awareness of QMS updates and implementation trends
  • Be an advocate for Quality to the area – train and communicate to staff in a way that focuses on the value and intent of quality management
  • Support the area through on-boarding new employees on HDR’s QMS
  • Identify Project Managers needing support in properly implementing QMS and local Area process requirements. 
  • Communicate QMS updates and Quality Office directives to the Area leadership and staff as appropriate, and in the reverse, identify QMS related needs of local Project Managers to the Quality Office
  • Actively participate in project reviews and discuss trends or patterns with Area leadership
  • Monitor the proper scheduling and completion of QA and QC activities through the Area’s use of the QMIS.
  • Work independently to effectively manage complex project- and executive-level paper and electronic files, documents and records
  • Manage project insurance matters
  • Work with complex contracts and sub-agreements
  • Assist with project budgets and ensure compliance with project contractual obligations as needed
  • Participate as a management representative for quality in Area leadership meetings
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • A minimum of 10 years in consulting industry.
  • A minimum of 2 years in quality or process related functions.
  • Strong familiarity with MS Office Suite
  • Represents HDR's commitment to fulfill project responsibilities and obligations to client and internal management stakeholders
  • Must provide professional and ethical direction for the company and staff
  • Local candidates are preferred

Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of 6 years in similar consulting industry and a minimum of 5 years in specific technical area covered
  • Deep understanding of QMS fundamentals
  • Proven skills in the areas of Project Management and/or Quality Management projects
  • Strong verbal and written communication with investigative interview experience and project QM software systems
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
