Associate Sustainability Consultant
Required Qualifications
- MSc and/or BSc in a relevant discipline (e.g., energy / environmental / engineering / scientific), OR equivalent experience
- Personable and a ‘can do’ attitude. Able to establish rapport and good working relationships within the project team and Clients
- To be able to work as part as a team and collaboratively and co-operatively
- A sound understanding of environmental and sustainability principles, and the ability to describe them to others and make the case for action
- Knowledge of environmental legislation, particularly in Europe / the UK, and how to audit and assess compliance
- Excellent communication skills – able to correspond effectively with clients, sub-contractors, and colleagues in design teams and other consultancies.
- Professionalism and integrity
- The ability to research, collect, analyse and present information in a concise and effective form (e.g. drafting reports, or calculating carbon emissions following documented protocols)
- Competency in key business tools (e.g. MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Browsers and Search Engines)
Preferred Qualifications
- Good experience, ideally >7 years is typical for an Associate position. Experience in consultancy is preferred but not essential.
- Note: while this specification is for an “Associate” we will consider all applicants with relevant skills. We would also consider candidates at Associate Director or Senior consultant level. All roles have the opportunity for further progression.
- Appropriate professional membership based on your experience (e.g., Practitioner or Full Member of IEMA, Associate or Full Member of Energy Institute, CIBSE / Others).
- Any relevant industry accreditations (e.g., such as Lead Auditor status, EIA practitioner, BREEAM / LEED / WELL Accredited Professionals / Assessors, or Energy Auditor)
- The ability and potential to learn quickly, desire to pursue chartered status (if not already achieved)
- Driving license
- Experience of monitoring contract staff or third-party appointments
- Skills in project management with limited supervision
- Ability to mentor junior colleagues
