Environmental, Operations and Construction (EOC) operates within HDR’s Federal Business Group, capable of delivering services across all HDR business groups at any location. Our work is performed by our professional staff, scientists and engineers at remote sites, embedded in client office space or our own facilities. EOC delivers quality engineering, environmental, and construction management services at competitive prices.
- Perform scientific/environmental project assignments requiring application of moderately complex objectives and limited variables
- Assist on projects requiring scuba diving
- Assist as needed with the deployment of offshore passive acoustic monitoring gear
- Assist as needed as an observer on offshore aerial surveys for large whales
- Analyze acoustic data collected from whale tags
- Assist as needed on vessel surveys
- Work independently on medium-sized projects, or assist more-senior scientists on larger projects
- Give direction to clerical and technical personnel as needed
- Conduct biological field surveys, data interpretation and analysis, and plan and manage written environmental reports
- Work on assignments that require dealing with diverse working conditions while in the field as needed
- Perform other duties as needed
- This position is subject to a governmental background check
- Previous experience in environmental, wildlife, coastal or fisheries
- A minimum of 1 year experience supporting biological/environmental projects
- Leadership skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Scuba Diving experience (scientific preferred but extensive open-water experience may suffice)
- Ability to obtain Common Access Card (CAC) upon hire
- Ability to travel up to 50% per year from the Atlantic coast to the Pacific when project needs require
- Local candidates preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Biology or closely related field
- Proficiency with MS Office
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
