Primary Responsibilities
In the role of Environmental Sciences & Planning Section Manager (Western Canada), we'll count on you to:
- Lead and manage a team of environmental specialists conducting inventories of existing environmental conditions, reporting, impact assessment and mitigation, approvals and permitting.
- Leverage your existing client relationships within environmental sectors (e.g. Transportation, Water, Mining, Oil & Gas, Industrial development) to grow the ES&P team in Western Canada
- Expand an existing in-house team of environmental specialists
- Serve as a technical expert with recognized authority in an area of specialization (e.g. fisheries, terrestrial ecology, wildlife, wetlands) that supports environmental assessments and permitting for infrastructure development including transportation, transit, solid waste management and industrial development
- Plan and develop projects or design activities that have significant impact on major company programs as needed
- Plan, direct and monitor all environmental aspects of large multidisciplinary infrastructure projects, or medium-size projects with high degree of technical complexity
- Plan, organize and supervise work of a medium to large staff of professionals and technicians as needed
- Serve as Project Manager on larger projects as needed, although project management is not the sole focus of this position
- Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- A minimum of 15 years related experience
- Business development experience with strong established client contacts
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Highly motivated self-starter
- Established regulatory agency and industry contacts
- Experience in developing and leading teams
- Project Management experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- A minimum of 10 years experience
- Professional registration, license or certification may be required based on role
- Strong communication and listening skills
- Ability to handle multiple assignments
- Good leadership and organizational skills
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
