HDR is looking for a Project Manager to join our Federal Business Group. This position will be located in our Charlotte, NC office. Duties include project management of multi-discipline planning and design teams to support large, medium, and small-scale federal projects, including both vertical and horizontal facilities. The Federal Project Manager will lead and manage teams to execute the planning, design, and construction support activities throughout the life of assigned projects. In addition, the Federal Project Manager will be fully responsible for achieving the scope, schedule, and budget for each assigned project to meet both client and company expectations. The candidate must establish client relationships and be involved throughout the complete life cycle of projects including marketing, proposal development, negotiations, and contract execution. The candidate will also help lead multi-discipline teams to conduct on-site work sessions for planning and design development. Additional responsibilities will include: working with accounting managers, project controllers, and area manager for project reviews and implementation of QA/QC procedures. Candidates must be willing to travel throughout the U.S. and potentially abroad.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree
  • Design and project management experience for facilities projects
  • PE license or Registered Architect
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Knowledge of project life cycle including Initiation, Planning, Design, Procurement, Construction, Post Construction including turn over to end user
  • Department of Defense (DoD) or other Federal project experience
  • Experience managing or leading projects for NAFAC, USACE and other DoD clients in NC and SC
  • Ability to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines
  • Ability to be a team builder and lead high performing teams
  • Ability to pass a background check to obtain a DoD Common Access Card (CAC); due to client contract requirements only candidates with US citizenship (US Born Citizen) will be considered for this position as permitted pursuant to section 274B(a)(2)(C) of the Immigration and Nationality Act
  • Local candidates are preferred

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • 7 years related experience
  • A minimum of 2 years  project management experience
  • Must have the ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
