- Responsible for managing and building a design production team to deliver HVAC and Plumbing work through recruitment, staff development, and training.
- Managing workflow and utilization, mentoring and staff development, forecasting and scheduling, quality control, and fostering a team environment
- Function as a technical lead on projects, coordinating with other disciplines across HDR, and leading the development of construction drawings, specifications, and supporting engineering calculations, a s well as the review of shop drawings during construction
- Be directly involved with external clients as well as internal project managers, market sector leads, business group managers, and other leaders throughout HDR
- Expected to help implement, monitor, and support company policies
- Participate in leadership for technical service functions and support the development of HDR services in technical design.
- Prepare mechanical proposals including scope development and estimating hours/fee.
- Provide technical expertise in HVAC and Plumbing design across a variety of markets including Healthcare, Education and Science, Water/Wastewater, Municipal, Industrial, and Federal Clients.
- Prepare design drawings for construction documents.
- Review work of junior staff.
- Some regional/national travel will be expected.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering discipline.
- Master's degree with a focus in Mechanical Engineering.
- A minimum of 10 years management experience
- 15 years of experience in mechanical design.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical/HVAC design of buildings and facilities
- Technical knowledge of mechanical systems design.
- PE license
- Excellent planning skills
- Ability to thrive in a team environment.
- Ability to manage, lead and mentor other team members.
- Experience directly supervising multiple staff members.
- Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.
- Experience designing water/wastewater facilities and/or experience with lab work, healthcare, and datacenter facilities.
- Experience with Revit
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- A minimum of 10 years experience
- Professional registration, license or certification may be required based on role
- Strong communication and listening skills
- Ability to handle multiple assignments
- Good leadership and organizational skills
