HDR is currently seeking a Power Delivery Program Leader who has an interest in expanding their career across multiple market sectors, business units, and areas of technical expertise across Australia and the world. Having previously performed leadership roles on increasingly complex substation projects, you’ll be ready to undertake greater challenges and responsibilities. 

This position is a key role for our global growth, supporting program management, project management, technical leadership and oversight of substation design projects, team growth, and supporting client relationships and business development activities for a diverse set of technology, data center, and other utility focused projects and clients across the country.

This position will primarily collaborate with, leverage, and grow HDR substation design teams across the company to develop, scope, and deliver design-bid-build and/or design-build high voltage substation design projects for various data center clients across Australia. This position will also engage in business development activities to support existing and new power delivery clients across the globe.

This position may also perform early-stage owners engineering, site, power due diligence and planning studies and develop solutions that meet regional site specific requirements for all aspects of power delivery design of high voltage electrical switching stations and substations with distribution and transmission line, renewable energy, and resiliency components for high voltage projects and clients.

Specific duties include:

• Grow the Power delivery business in Australia for all high voltage clients, including participation in business planning, client development support, resource management, design delivery, and quality management.
• Collaborate with program management, marketing and client development leaders to build on existing client relationships with mission critical and utility clients, with a focus on power delivery (substations, distribution, transmission interconnect, renewable energy and resiliency).
• Lead the delivery of substation design projects for data centre and utility clients, working directly with project teams and stakeholders to achieve quality, schedule, and budget objectives. 
• Build and develop an Australian substation design function, initially delivering work directly while helping expand team capability and capacity as business needs evolve.
• Manage projects and programs, including scope and/or proposal development, project team development and assignment, project execution, quality reviews, project closeout, and quality control, schedule, and budget management.
• Utilise knowledge of and experience with a variety of utility frameworks, design standards, utility interconnect processes, and preferred project delivery models around the globe to develop and scope new project opportunities.
• Utilise experience with power delivery procurement and construction industry best practices, with traditional and alternative delivery models (EPC, EPCM, Progressive DB, etc.) to bring innovative solutions to scoping and executing projects.
• Collaborate with HDR operations leaders, project managers, and project teams to leverage staff for engineering execution to deliver world class quality in design and construction support of projects in the Australia and internationally.
• Lead site and power due diligence studies to evaluate regional electricity infrastructure, energy markets, and relevant regulatory and policy environments and develop and present findings to clients.
• Develop relationships and agreements with teaming partners, as required, to support high voltage power delivery projects.
• Peer review of teaming partners and subconsultants high voltage power delivery.
• Mentor junior project managers and engineers to continue to develop future talent.
• Collaborate with other team / program leaders around the globe to facilitate workshare and support of high voltage projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Chartered professional qualification or relevant PMP qualification
• Minimum 10 years of general high voltage substation design experience, including prior design, project and/or program management experience.
• Substation design experience up to 500kV.
• Power Delivery experience with large scale private developers (i.e. renewables, industrial sites, data centers, etc.) and a variety of utilities (i.e. investor-owned utilities, public utility districts, municipalities, cooperatives) preferred.
• Technical experience with high voltage substation projects of small to medium size and complexity up to 500kV (higher voltages and DC voltage a plus), including conceptual knowledge of physical, electrical, civil, and structural design components, and knowledge of IEEE, IEC, NESC, NEC and ANSI design and equipment standards.
• Experience with the utility interconnection process from load application through engineering and construction agreements.
• Strong leadership skills and experience managing multiple global remote teams.
• Collaborative mindset to seamlessly work across teams and business units.
• Strong track record of client management and successful delivery outcomes.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field
• A minimum of 10 years’ project management experience working with external clients
• Understanding of HDR business services and procedures
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with interview (fact-finding) experience
