The primary duties of the Senior Project Manager - Bridges will be to lead structure projects within the Northern California Bridges Section. Projects will include bridge design and load rating projects for Caltrans, railroads and other local agencies. The Senior Project Manager will ensure that the team produces design criteria, engineering reports, design plans, design calculations, and specifications for bridge projects. The Sr. Project Manager will lead the team in completing the necessary analysis, design, and calculations required for the project. It is expected that the candidate be a team player ready to work with the rest of the bridge staff in a collaborative environment and help build the technical performance of the group. This individual is expected to take an active mentoring role and encourage, motivate and help develop the Northern California staff engineering skills. The Sr. Project Manager shall be familiar with both local and national bridge codes. The Sr. Project Manager will also lead business development tasks and contribute to the growth of the bridge group. Business development participation will include collaboration with or actively leading members of proposal pursuit teams, participation in engineering associations and representing the organization at conferences and events.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Lead and manage structural/bridge projects, including assessing project needs, developing staffing/work plans, coordination with other disciplines and subs.
- Ensure maintaining project schedules and budgets and that work products meets client requirements.
- Track financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust work effort with team to ensure that work is completed within parameters of agreed-to budget and schedule.
- Work with the Accounting, Operational and Business leadership for periodic project reviews
- Implement QA/QC procedures.
- Perform detail checks and/or quality control reviews of the design work performed by other design team members.
- Actively participate in business / client development including proposal writing, fee development, identifying teaming strategies, and general industry marketing efforts such as active participation in technical societies.
- Supervise large project staffs and act as mentor for less-experienced Project Managers.
- Perform other duties as required.
Required Qualifications
- BS in Civil/Structural Engineering
- 15 years related bridge engineering experience, including 5 years Project management experience with California Transportation clients.
- Knowledge of MS Office, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and structural analysis programs (CSiBridge, SAP2000, ADINA, LARSA 4D, FB-MultiPier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, midas Civil, MDX, RM Bridge, spColumn, LUSAS, STLBridgeLRFD, or STLBridge, Leap Bridge)
- PE license in the state of California
- Demonstrated leadership, business development and strategic planning skills
- Knowledge of the California Transportation industry.

Preferred Qualifications
- MS in Civil/Structural Engineering
- PMP Certification
- Experience in client development, proposal writing, and general marketing is strongly preferred

The expected compensation range for this position is $127,589 - $207,125 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
