In the role of Senior Project Manager, Waste, we'll count on you to:
  • In this role you will focus on fostering existing client relationships and developing new business. You will be in position to develop, inspire, lead, and oversee the activities of multi-discipline engineering and project teams as well as serving as a Senior Project Manager or Project Principal.
  • Participate in local and regional strategic planning activities for the Waste Sector.
  • Cultivate relationships with a targeted list of local, strategic clients who are important for the growth of the Waste Sector. Participate in development of strong client relationships and serve as a client manager for select clients.
  • Work with internal market leaders and client leaders to identify/target clients and projects resulting in expansion of the business in the area.
  • Grow HDR’s portfolio of Waste services. Leverage experience and personal networks to work with clients to create opportunities to deliver a variety of HDR services including planning, design, permitting, and construction administration of civil/site and environmental projects (landfills, vertical facilities, brownfields, remediation). Recognize other HDR services and activities outside of core development services that would benefit clients.
  • Experienced with and/or knowledgeable of storm water controls, groundwater monitoring and remediation networks, leachate management systems, landfill gas collection and control systems, and site layout/infrastructure elements (i.e. utilities, roads, support buildings).
  • Coordinating and interfacing with junior staff to mentor and continue to grow our team.
  • Lead pursuit efforts for a wide range of opportunities; cross sell all services HDR can offer. Develop and/or review proposals including scope, cost estimates, schedules, work plans and staffing.
  • Manage projects. Prepares scopes of work, budget estimates, and independently coordinates work of multi-discipline professional staff to ensure successful project delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Track financial aspects of projects, coordinate and adjust work effort with teams to ensure work is completed within parameters of agreed-to schedule.
  • Facilitate teamwork, communication, and work-sharing.
  • Participate in business and community activities as a representative of HDR.
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license and/or PMP certification.
  • Experience with solid waste master planning, zero waste planning, and implementation of waste diversion programs is a plus.
  • Demonstrated understanding of client relationship management and evidence of experience interacting directly with clients higher preferred.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • 10 years related experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of project management experience
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office, estimating and scheduling software, project management software
  • Must have the ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
