Senior Substation Design Engineer
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
- Minimum 4 years of technical design experience with high voltage electrical switchyard and substation projects of varying complexity up to 765kV preferred, including at a minimum, conceptual knowledge of physical, electrical, civil, and structural design components as well as knowledge of IEC, IEEE, ANSI, and other applicable design and equipment standards.
- Track record of working cooperatively with diverse teams, departments, technical managers, and project staff.
- Experience using industry standard design software.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and conferencing platforms (Zoom, WebEx, Teams, etc.).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong conceptual, organizational, problem solving, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- An attitude and commitment to be an active participant of our employee-owned culture.
- Willingness to travel when required.
Desirable Qualifications
- Chartered Engineer Status.
- Previous consulting firm experience.
- Experience with development of electrical grounding and lightning studies.
- Experience with design of one-line, three-line, and other electrical diagrams.
- Experience with design of physical layouts, section views, and electrical clearances.
- Experience with design of conduit layouts.
- Experience with design of protective relaying and control equipment.
- Experience with design of varying voltage classes of equipment.
