In the role of Southern California Alternative Delivery Leader, we'll count on you to:

 

  • Report directly to the Transportation Business Group Manager and be responsible for the effective pursuit and delivery of Alternative Delivery projects.
  • Drive the Alternative Delivery project approvals in compliance with HDR Policy and Procedure, the Matrix of Authority, and industry trends.
  • Advise HDR leadership on commercial and technical trends in the Alternative Delivery industry.
  • Cooperate with all members of the HDR organization to maximize the strengths of the HDR matrix.
  • Manage and inform Alternative Delivery Regional Representatives and Resource Manager to provide service to HDR areas seeking to have AD projects properly approved and executed.
  • Maintain a collegial and cooperative relationship with HDR legal and risk management representatives to promote sound contracting and operational effectiveness.
  • Negotiate teaming agreements, proposal phase design service agreements and design subcontracts with other engineering and construction entities. 
  • Foster relationships in the AD industry that would elevate HDR’s visibility in the infrastructure and design/build business by actively participating in state and national organizations.
  • Engage in continual improvement of methods, implementation, education and best practices that would sustain HDR’s competitive viability in the AD markets.
  • Report routinely on TBG Alternative Delivery status.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • PE License preferred.
  • An understanding of HDR operations and the viability and function of the “matrix”
  • Client relationships with public agencies and other private entities, and have a track record of success in this arena.
  • Experienced in development and management of a wide range of client relationships and specific program and/or project pursuits.
  • Experienced with industry associations and maintains a visible profile in the transportation and other key markets.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and persuade teams who hold diverse interests.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with staff and foster development of technical capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with client managers, technical directors, business group directors and operations staff.
  • Demonstrated commitment to HDR values and an attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Planning, Sciences, Business Administration, or a closely related field
  • Program management experience consistent with one of the following requirements: 
  • A minimum of three (3) years of program management experience in a deputy role to the Program Manager for the delivery of one or more programs, with a cumulative capital value of $200 million or more, or;
  • A minimum of five (5) years of program management experience as a Project Manager or Project Controls Manager for the delivery of one or more programs, each with a capital value of $200 million or more, or; 
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of project management experience as a Project Manager directing a multi-disciplinary team for the delivery of at least two (2) projects, each with a capital value of $50 million or more
  • Strong leadership skills with experience building a cohesive team culture and managing team members in various locations.
  • Excellent communication skills. Comfortable presenting to client executives and in front of a large audience in a public setting
  • Management experience with the implementation of projects or programs using alternative and collaborative delivery methods, including design-build (DB), progressive design-build (PDB), and/or construction management at-risk (CMAR)
  • Familiar with the various tools used to manage large programs � PMIS, CMIS, scheduling, cost control, document management, risk management, asset management, dashboard analytics, etc.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
