Primary Responsibilities
In the role of Transportation Field Engineer, we'll count on you to:
- Work as a key member of the sidewalk field engineering team and work independently on small to moderate moderately sized projects
- Prepare and oversee the following for sidewalks, bikeways, and urban trails field engineering projects using City of Austin Transportation Criteria Manual (TCM) in compliance with the Public Right-of-Way Accessibility Guidelines (PROWAG): conduct site assessments, develop cost estimates, develop project layouts, prepare General Permit Exemption/General Permit Plan sets, Permitting, pre-construction meetings, daily site visits and Field Engineering direction to the contractor, traffic control plans (TCP), and contractor pay application review.
- Manage the following work elements: day-to-day communication (verbal and written) with the client, support and advise junior engineers and technical staff, write reports and technical memos, coordinate with subconsultants, keep project on schedule and within budget, and keep client satisfied.
- Perform other duties as needed
- Bachelor's degree
- Previous experience in all aspects of roadway engineering design
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Hands-on experience with Highways and Roads CAD engineeringsoftware such as Bentley ConceptStation and Open Roads Designer and/orAutodesk Infraworks and Civil3d
- MS Office knowledge
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Experience should include urban and rural highway interchanges, intersection design, traffic management, transportation planning, site planning, preparation of concept alignments, geometrical layout and CAD base alignment plans
