In the role of Digital Design Specialist (Mechanical/Electrical), you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality digital design and BIM solutions for mechanical and electrical engineering projects. Working closely with engineers, architects, and project teams, you will develop, coordinate, and maintain discipline-specific models and documentation while supporting project objectives and digital delivery standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, manage, and maintain mechanical and electrical BIM models in accordance with project requirements, Level of Development (LOD), and Digital Delivery Plans (DDP).
- Produce accurate 3D models, drawings, layouts, schedules, and construction documentation for mechanical and electrical systems.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other disciplines to ensure integration and consistency of project models.
- Support interdisciplinary coordination efforts, including clash detection, model reviews, and issue resolution.
- Ensure mechanical and electrical BIM content complies with project standards, quality requirements, and digital delivery best practices.
- Assist in maintaining discipline-specific modeling methodologies, families, templates, and content libraries.
- Participate in design reviews and coordination meetings, identifying potential conflicts and proposing practical solutions.
- Verify model accuracy, data integrity, and documentation quality throughout project delivery.
- Support the implementation of BIM standards, workflows, and digital delivery initiatives across projects.
- Assist in the preparation of project deliverables, ensuring compliance with client requirements, schedules, and quality expectations.
- Collaborate with project teams to improve efficiency through the use of digital tools, automation, and innovative workflows.
- Provide support and guidance to junior team members as appropriate and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.
- Maintain effective communication with project stakeholders regarding modeling progress, coordination issues, and deliverables.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Architecture, Construction Technology, or a related technical field; or equivalent relevant industry experience.
- Typically 4–8 years of experience in BIM, digital design, or related mechanical/electrical design environments.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling and BIM software, particularly for mechanical and electrical system design and coordination.
- Strong understanding of BIM standards, digital delivery processes, and model management principles.
- Experience using model review and coordination tools for clash detection and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Working knowledge of document management systems and digital project delivery platforms.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and collaboration tools.
- Understanding of mechanical and/or electrical engineering principles, building systems, and construction documentation requirements.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience working on building, industrial, transportation, water, or infrastructure projects is preferred.
- Familiarity with automation tools, data-driven workflows, and emerging digital delivery technologies is an advantage.

- Technical degree or a minimum of 3 years related industry experience

- Intermediate understanding of engineering or architectural concepts
