Environmental Compliance Specialist

- Review state and federal regulations to determine applicability and define compliance requirements for industrial, institutional, power and utility sources
- Perform calculations to develop air emission inventories and conduct technical analyses such as computerized dispersion modeling to evaluate source impacts
- Prepare environmental permit documents (e.g., air permit applications, stormwater permit applications, Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) plans, and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), etc.) on behalf of clients, and coordinate and complete permitting projects
- Work with applicable regulators on air quality, stormwater and other environmental issues
- Conduct site audits of compliance with federal, state and local regulations, agency policies, training initiatives, and risk mitigation programs; identify risks/deficiencies, develop corrective action strategies, and ensure issues are addressed and resolved
- Follow prescribed procedures and detailed instructions
- Work both independently on small projects and as part of larger project teams to assist senior personnel
- Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with air emission methodologies, construction and operating permits, and with regulations under PSD, Title V, NSPS, MACT, and CAM programs
- Experience with stormwater, solid waste and hazardous waste regulations and implementation, such as NPDES, RCRA and CERCLA, as well as Phase I environmental site assessments, SPCC plans, and SWPPP
- Preference given to local candidates
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences or closely related field
- Knowledge of wetland delineation, field investigation techniques, and agency coordination requirements
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- MS Office experience
