In the role of Environmental Scientist I, we'll count on you to
- Work on a wide variety of environmental compliance and natural resources projects as they relate to water resources, transportation and development projects
- Work under the supervision of mid-level and senior environmental scientist and water resource engineers
- Take responsibility for assisting with environmental permits, NEPA documentation, biological assessments and other environmental compliance documentation
- Assist senior and mid-level scientists in field work associated with the collection of natural resource data
- Perform other duties as needed

- Preference given to local candidates
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to complete field site visits and record natural resource data in conditions that include sloped terrain, thick vegetation, and inclement weather
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds without assistance
- Must be able to effectively communicate in person, by telephone and email
- Must be able to effectively work in minimally supervised and/or unsupervised environments
- Work hours other than 8 to 5 which may include weekends and/or night shifts
- Must have a valid Driver's License
- Must be able to operate a motor vehicle day or night
- There will be required travel for project work based on the needs of the business
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences or closely related field
- Knowledge of wetland delineation, field investigation techniques, and agency coordination requirements
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- MS Office experience
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
