Primary Responsibilities
We are currently searching for a Senior Structural Project Engineer with expertise in Water Bearing Structures to join our growing regional structural engineering practice. This individual will be responsible for leading structural design of a wide variety of Water, Wastewater, Water Resources, and Industrial Treatment structures and facilities. They will be expected to coordinate and work closely with a multidisciplinary design team throughout the entire lifecycle of projects from planning stages, through the development of construction documents, and construction administration. They will be responsible for the development of construction drawings, specifications, and supporting engineering calculations, as well as the review of shop drawings during construction.
This leadership position resides within our Building Engineering Services team where you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with a diverse team of Structural Engineers across several market sectors.
This individual should be self-motivated, collaborative and possess strong leadership skills with an initiative to deliver high quality, technically sound structural engineering designs. They will be expected to plan, organize, and supervise the work of junior professionals and technicians while providing mentorship and leadership in the execution of project work. The ideal candidate will have experience with the design of water structures including reinforced concrete buildings and tanks and other associated structures using the ACI 350 design code. Candidate will work collaboratively with process engineers and other engineers with critical decision making from project concept through construction.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Mentor entry level and junior structural engineering staff to drive technical excellence.
- Provide structural engineering leadership throughout the global practice.
- Will function as the Engineer of Record, Lead Engineer, or Project Engineer on critical Water, Wastewater, Water Resources or Industrial Water projects.
- Opportunity to act as Project Manager or Design Manager on key projects.
- Participate and lead key significant projects throughout the Central Region.
- Master's degree in Architectural Engineering, Structural emphasis

- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- A minimum of 10 years structural engineering experience as it relates to building design
- Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
- Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar analytical software
- Experience in design calculations and layouts
- Ability to design and detail in steel, concrete, masonry and wood
- Requires understanding of gravity analysis and lateral analysis
- Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
