HDR is seeking an Area Manager who will be responsible for leading HDR’s Eastern Canada Engineering program (with potential additional support to Western Canada Engineering as required) to achieve annual operational goals and long-term strategic plan. This includes the growth, profitability, management, and overall vision of the Eastern Canada operations of HDR, which employs over 300 professional staff in 7 offices.
Primary Responsibilities
- This individual will be responsible for support and oversight, in partnership with local Business Group and Support Team representatives, the overall operations of the business. Routine travel to all office locations is expected.
- The Area Manager will establish the tone and culture for the business in this area and will ensure implementation of the business unit operating plan while maximizing revenue and profitability.
- They will also be expected to partner with key leaders within HDR to direct business activities, work directly with business groups, market sectors, operations leads, and client development groups to identify, develop and support profitable growth in the Area’s Transportation, Resources (Power/Industrial/Waste), Water and Building Engineering Services market sectors.
Additional duties will include: - HDR representation at area industry and client events.
- Significant involvement and participation in client development and maintenance activities.
- Establishment of business unit policies and support of HDR corporate policies
- Projection of contract financial fees and budget information in conjunction with Marketing and Project Management forecasts.
- Development of the annual area budget and oversight of the area annual planning process.
- Establishing and/or maintaining quality control processes and procedures
- The Area Manager will report directly to the Managing Director Canada and will possess signatory authority.
Preferred Qualifications
- A minimum of 15 years of related management experience required
- Experience in managing contracts with fees in excess of $5M desired.
- Proven success in marketing and delivering consulting services in the areas of transportation, water/wastewater/water resources, power/energy, and environmental resource management strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational and community involvement skills are a must.
- Experience with strategic planning and yearly budget planning is also required.
- Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field
- A minimum of 10 years experience in development and management of diverse teams
- Maintains a professional or Engineering registration and has related technical experience
- Strong communication and listening skills
- Ability to handle multiple assignments
- Good leadership and organizational skills
