- Analyze and diminish business and legal risks through review and negotiation of complex agreements
- Engage in-house counsel and senior management regarding risk mitigation and negotiation strategies for key clients and business opportunities
- Oversee training and develop processes regarding contract review and negotiation
- Review, analyze and accurately interpret clients' highly complex contractual documents, and develop any necessary modifications to clients' contract language
- Ensure that final contract terms and conditions comply with company policies
- Advise appropriate senior management of any contract language that deviates from established corporate risk management policies to confirm agreement to diverge from standard risk policies
- Dictate when unusual operational contract requirements may need to be brought to senior management for review, even if not required by policy
- Perform other duties as needed
- Bachelor's degree
- A minimum of 5 years of experience negotiating, drafting, interpreting, and enforcing complex agreements (preferred for construction, design-build projects, construction management, program management, and architectural engineering and consulting agreements)
- Ability to work efficiently and meet demanding deadlines in a fast-paced environment, prioritize workflow, and adjust to frequent workload fluctuations
- Excellent analytical and oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently while also being a strong collaborator
- Ability to work autonomously as well as understand when to escalate critical issues to Counsel
- Ability to identify and manage risk inherent to projects in the engineering/architecture consulting industry
- Willingness to travel 10% of the time
