Primary Responsibilities

The Senior Security Designer will be expected to complete a variety of project tasks including but not limited to the following:

  • Strong general engineering knowledge of electronic security systems (communications, electronic controls, CCTV, access control, UPS, etc.) and operational coordination with commercial hardware.
  • Attend new opportunity interview(s) with project principals or project managers.
  • Ability to develop scope and budgets for ICT/Security projects to assist internal principals and project managers.
  • Meet with project clients to evaluate, define and review customer needs/objectives and ensure those requirements are met within the project design.
  • Define and develop complete project related construction documents to include all design documents (SD, DD, CD) to show design intent, project specifications, and assist with system related activities within all construction administration (CA) activities.
  • Coordinate with integrated, multidisciplinary project teams to develop functional requirements, system designs and other project related requirements.
  • Develop alternative system design concepts, feasibility and trade-off studies and value-added engineering when required for projects.
  • Maintain knowledge of current industry product offerings and research new emerging technologies.
  • Provide Construction Administration Services such as reviewing submittals and responding to contractor questions.
  • Assist in problem resolution and technical troubleshooting when field support is needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PSP (Physical Security Professional) certification
  • Familiarity with Microsoft suite of programs
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam REVU
  • Experience with Data Center and/or Federal projects.
  • High level of communication and coordination with a local team or teammates across the company.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, handle multiple tasks independently, on schedule and under budget.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to work in a high-velocity environment managing multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and workmanship quality.
  • Knowledge of engineering drawing and design standards and practices.
  • Strong desire for continuous learning and professional education.
  • Applicants selected may be subject to periodic government background checks when required by client.
  • Preference given to local candidates
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or combination of education and relevant experience
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in security system design and familiarity with Autodesk
  • RCDD (Registered Communication Distribution Designer) helpful
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
